Assessment and Treatments
Achilles tendinitis
The Achilles Tendon is the largest tendon in the human body. When taut, it allows for ‘springing’ movement from the toes such as running and jumping.
However, because it is so integral to high activity, it is also a very common site of injury. Pain in this area can be due to inflammation or tears of the tendon.
Treatment includes rest and icing the area. Exercises will strengthen the tendon and stretch the calf muscles. You may require orthoses to address any biomechanical factors. Low level laser therapy, shockwave therapy or podiatric acupuncture may help in chronic cases.
